Description
The delightful Moorish village of Alcantarilha perches on a small hill just three kilometres inland from the coastal resort of Armacao de Pera. Surrounded by countryside, it's a great base for trips out and exploring.
Narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses snake up the hill towards the bell-towered church, their terracotta tiles glowing warmly in the sunshine. It's not all pleasantries here though, for Alcantarilha has one gory claim to fame. The Chapel of Bones is aptly named, for one of its walls is inlaid with 1500 human skulls!
However you needn't forgo 21st century attractions completely in Alcantarilha. For one of the largest water parks in Portugal is a few kilometers away, and the performing dolphins at Zoomarine are an easy drive. For beaches, look no further than the swathes of golden sand at Armação de Pêra or Senhora da Rocha, and the charms and restaurants of Carvoeiro are within easy striking distance. There is also a handful of Portuguese restaurants in the village.
This row of pretty townhouses is within a couple of minutes walk to the village centre. With 160 sq mts of living area and high quality finishing specifications these properties offer excellent value for money particularly as they have been recently reduced (prices previously started at €246,500).
